Job Summary

The Ghana Advanced Maize Seed Adoption Program, (GAMSAP) is a Global Development Alliance, (GDA) initiative of USAID with Dupont Pioneer for technical expertise and joint funding (or socio-economic improvement.  GAMSAP is being implemented by the Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement, (ADVANCE 11), Project.   The goal of GAMSAP is to sustainably increase the productivity of smallholder maize farmers and link them to profitable and predictable supply chain systems and markets. GAMSAP works with commercial farms and smallholder farmers across all the maize production areas in Ghana to overcome classic constraints including inadequate access to quality hybrid seed, lack of agronomic services, poor access to markets and storage.

In furtherance of these project objectives, GAMSAP is seeking for immediate employment a Senior Agricultural Productivity Official, (to be based in Konongo) and to work with farmers in the Afram Plains. The post holder will ensure effective delivery of programs and reporting on GAMSAP to participating development partners and USAID.

Specifically, the post holder will lead the implementation, review and development of needed project activities, provide technical support to value chain actors, support learning processes of institutions and individuals, monitor the progress of programs and report same as required for his/her assigned jurisdiction.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master's degree in agriculture or related fields from a recognized university
•   Minimum of twelve ( 1 2) years of working experience post-first-degree qualification and
•   Minimum of five (5) years of experience in senior management position, preferably involving close work with smallholder farmers or setups in rural communities
•   Excellent written and oral communication
•   Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
•   Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Access, Excel and Power Point)
•   Detail oriented and highly organize
