Job Vacancy For Senior Chemist At MODEC Ghana Limited (Accra and Takoradi)



Duties and Responsibilities:

•   To provide experience and wide knowledge to undertake studies and analysis/evaluations of chemistry related issues in the oil and gas industry on the request of MODEC's clients, and to provide solutions as appropriate.
•   Apply an in depth working and operational knowledge of the main oil/gas/water and solids characterization (chemical and physical properties), formation and well chemistry support to oil and gas field & facility operations, including the use of chemistry simulator technology.
•   Ensure compliance with MODEC's policy and display commitment to safety goals and procedures in line with client expectations.
•   Provide production chemistry input to business development activities and proposals
•   Interface closely with the chemistry team leader regarding the individual development requirements and those of the less experienced members of the chemistry team:

a. Develop technical ability and interpersonal skills
b. Develop professional recognition amongst peers and clients
c. formulate individual development and training plans
d. progressing towards senior status with an appropriate institute
e. support team and project efficiency
f. provide guidance and support to less experienced chemists in the team.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in chemistry from an accredited university (E)
•   Masters Degree in chemistry from an accredited university (D)

Experience:

•   Minimum of 5-10 years post graduate experience in oil, gas or petrochemicals feild (E)
•   Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institute eg. RSC/EI (E)

E) = Essential requirement that must be met before a candidate is appointed
D) = Desirable requirement. Candidate may be appointed, with discretion, without full achievement of criterion but the indicated competence should be developed.

Team Working:

•   Adopt flexible working attitude to provide support across departments to ensure team success.
•   Conduct work group / toolbox briefings.
•   Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify & minimize interpersonal conflict.
•   Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.

Communications/Reporting:

•   To report any defect or inspection report to relevant Production Supervisor in a clear and concise manner and record all relevant information in logs as required.
•   Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
•   Provide required input to vessel meetings, planning, initiatives etc.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

•   Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements
•   Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
•   Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.
