Job Vacancy For Senior Democratic Governance Advisor (Technical Specialist) At Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD)



Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) (Formerly Canadian International Development Agency – CIDA) seeks to engage the services of a Senior Democratic Governance Advisor (Technical Specialist) who will provide professional, technical, strategic and advisory support to the Ghana Programme team.

Scope of Work
The Senior Democratic Governance Advisor will work closely with the Ghana Programme Governance Team to provide analysis and advise on democratic governance issues and programming in Ghana. A detailed copy of the scope of work is outlined in the Request for Proposals (RFP).

Mandatory Requirements and Qualification

•   The Bidder must be a Ghanaian citizen and must be legally and operationally permitted to work in Ghana. Any non-Ghanaian citizen will be required to provide a valid residence and work permit.
•   The Bidder must possess a Master’s Degree from a recognised university or relevant graduate diploma of a national institute in the field of development economics, political science, international development, public administration, development planning, sociology, business administration, human rights, gen- der equality, and interdisciplinary development studies/project management.
•   Minimum of five (5) years recent experience working in an advisory capacity in the area of Democratic Governance.
•   (Recent experience means within the last ten (10) years from January 2003 to the time of bid closing)

Other Technical Requirements

Bidders will also be assessed based on other technical requirements such as providing technical advice/assistance and support in the area of Democratic governance in Ghana through ensuring effective and resource efficient programming with the ultimate goal of contributing to better development results in Ghana by supporting the consistent integration of DFATD’s crosscutting themes of gender equality and environmental sustainability, while linking democratic governance into Canada’s bilateral sectoral focus.
