Job Vacancy For Senior Geologist – Open Pit



Asanko Gold Ghana Limited Ghana Ltd. (“AGGL”) is a fully-owned subsidiary of Asanko Gold Inc., a company which has built the Asanko Gold Mine, Ghana’s newest gold mine. The vision of Asanko is to become a midtier gold mining company that maximizes value for all stakeholders. AGGL is seeking to employ a suitable qualified person to fill the role below. This is a permanent position with a competitive work roster. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance based incentive payments.

Position: Senior Geologist – Open Pit

Key Responsibilities:

•   Contribute to the achievement of high standards of performance by the Company in the management of safety, health and the environment, particularly within the position’s discipline.
•   Using Grade Control drilling and other relevant Resource data to create/build geological and mineral resource models by employing computer based resource evaluation techniques for geological, drilling and Short Term Mine Planning;
•   Effect the application of the grade control geological models for ore polygon delineation, as part of an ongoing proactive dilution control;
•   Submit required reports on Ore delineation and availability in all open pits;
•   Maintain a pit geological map, that is updated monthly, and integrated with the overall deposit geological model;
•   Oversee and Supervise Grade Control sampling activities and Grade Control Drill hole logging;
•   Sections plotting and interpretation;
•   Maintenance of quality control systems;
•   Train and direct staff in all facets of open pit geological procedures;
•   Conduct performance evaluation and appraisal for staff in the discipline where appropriate;

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
•   Member of Ghana Institute of Geoscientist;
•   A minimum of 6 years experience in similar role in the mining industry preferably in large open pits operations;
•   Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana, and be able to interpret and apply these laws and regulations;
•   Familiar with modern geological technologies and practices;
•   Good report writing skill and clearly define project goals and delivered on time and on budget;
•   Excellent computer skills in geological softwares;
•   Leadership experience and a strong desire to coach and develop others;
•   Well-developed oral and written communication skills;

•   Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people of diverse cultures;
•   Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and have the ability to drive in rough terrain;
•   Ability to work under pressure.
