Job Vacancy For Senior Mine Planning Engineer – Medium/Long term & Strategic Mine Planning

Position: Senior Mine Planning Engineer – Medium/Long term & Strategic Mine Planning

Key Responsibilities:

•   Produce a one Year production Plan (3-Months rolling plan), and Five Year Detailed Plan (Production and Financial), and Life of Mine Strategic Plan, evaluate blending option for different mining scenarios;
•   Liaise with Mining contractor and develop plans based on equipment capacities;
•   Prepare monthly cost reconciliation and forecast;
•   Work towards ensuring that plans meet short, medium and Long Term strategies and objectives;
•   Work towards ensuring that Short term is complying with medium and long term Plan;
•   Undertake open pit optimisation, pits and dumps designing to meet Asanko standards and requirements in order to maximize mine performance;
•   Liaise with the Senior Surveyor and Senior Mine Geologist with regard to any changes in the pit and dump designs;
•   Assist with the efficient preparation of Mine Budgets and Life of Mine Plans (LOM) to meet deadlines;
•   Assist with the preparation of mid and end of the year Ore Reserves reports;
•   Undertake Ore Reserves reconciliations in conjunction with Geology and Metallurgy;
•   Efficient planning of ore stockpiles to ensure uninterrupted ore supply to crushers;
•   Ensure pit & dump engineering designs are available and meet all technical and safety requirements;
•   Ensure block models are updated and made available for planning purposes;
•   Ensure quarterly production reconciliations are generated;
•   Deputise for the Unit Manager, Mine Planning as required; and
•   Perform any related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   BSc. in Mining Engineering;
•   A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in the mining industry which includes experience in large open pit operations utilising excavators and large trucks;
•   Excellent Computer analysis skills and in-depth knowledge of modern mine planning and design softwares;
•   Experience in the use of DESWIK or similar mining software packages. Practical knowledge in the use of spreadsheet and database software packages;
•   Experience in Open Pit optimisation preferably in gold deposit, pit designing and production scheduling;
•   Ability and experience in training, coaching and mentoring staff. Institute and manage skills and technological transfer for effective succession planning.
•   Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana and be able to interpret and apply these laws and regulations;
•   Familiar with current planning technologies and practices;
•   Leadership experience and a strong desire to coach and develop others;
•   Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people of diverse cultures;
•   Well-developed oral and written communication skills;
•   Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and have the ability to drive in rough terrain;
•   Ability to work under pressure;
