Job Vacancy For Senior Safety Officer At MODEC Ghana Limited (Accra and Takoradi)



Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Provide on board leadership and guidance in the application of the PTW coordinator. Ensure the company permit to work system on the installation is adhered to and that all on board activities are carried out according to the procedures and guidelines in a safe manner
•   Ensure activities are progressed in accordance with the safety management system / facility management system and MODEC and industry standard safety procedures
•   Familiarization with the requirements of the facility's safety cases with the facilities management in particular the HSE and process safety management systems
•   Responsible for providing advice and guidance in the area of occupational health and safety & environmental matters. This support shall be by way of recognized methods and aids such as audio and visuals well as on the job training and coaching of operational staff and contractors
•   Develops and reviews HSE and process Safety operational work and instructions and standard operational procedures as required.
•   Development and delivery of process safety training materials in collaboration with the training department to operations personnel as necessary assist in the development and administration of a competency based training as part of the national's staff development program onboard.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   NEBOSH International Technical certificate in oil and gas operational safety or safety related degree/diploma/technical apprenticeship or equivalent of city & guilds in occupational HSE (E)
•   Certified competency in occupational health and safety, safety management system and safety case guildline requirements.

Experience:

•   10 years of experience in an offshore operating faculty, or equivalent, with experience in one or more of the following disciplines. 5 years in HSE supervisory role/process engineering, safe operations, process safety management and risk management. (E)
•   5 years as PTW coordinator within a fully operational hydrocarbon production installations (E)
•   Must be technically proficient in all areas of process safety and loss prevention (E)
•   Qualified ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified internal auditor/ lead auditing experience (E)
•   Firefighting and approved emergency response training (E)
•   Accident/Incident investigation training (E)
•   Management of major emergencies/crisis management

E) = Essential requirement that must be met before a candidate is appointed
D) = Desirable requirement. Candidate may be appointed, with discretion, without full achievement of criterion but the indicated competence should be developed.

Team Working:

•   Adopt flexible working attitude to provide support across departments to ensure team success.
•   Conduct work group / toolbox briefings.
•   Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify & minimize interpersonal conflict.
•   Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.

Communications/Reporting:

•   To report any defect or inspection report to relevant Production Supervisor in a clear and concise manner and record all relevant information in logs as required.
•   Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
•   Provide required input to vessel meetings, planning, initiatives etc.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

•   Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements
•   Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
•   Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.
