Job Vacancy For Sharc Heavy Machine Operator



Kete Krachi Timber Recovery ("KKTR") is a privately held Ghanaian-owned business that runs a timber salvage operation on Lake Volta, using barge-mounted salvage units built around modified Caterpillar excavators.

Position: Sharc Heavy Machine Operator (Based on CAT 330D, Forestry Machine Version)
Immediate Supervisor: Harvesting Manager
Department/Location: Sedom Yiti, Asuogyaman District

Role

The Primary role of this position is to run a shallow water underwater salvage machine, the SHARC on Lake Volta. The SHARC is a barge-mounted CAT330D FM excavator with a telescoping boom is moved through the water by three Z-drives controlled by a dynamic positioning systems (DPS).

The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of the machine.

Responsibilities

General

• Conduct activities in accordance with corporate policy and KKTR standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Ensure that all activities comply with relevant Act, legal demands, professional and ethical standards
• Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of all relevant data and systems
• Attend appropriate team meetings and provide constructive feedback and support to toerh team members
• Maintain a positive relationship with department heads and KKTR's corporate office as they are established through constructive feedback, assistance and provision of various reports
• Maintain professional awareness of overall developments in the field of assigned areas by literature review, attendance at professional meetings, conferences and seminars and
• Other tasks as assigned

Technical Skills

• Electrical Troubleshooting and repair which includes the ability to read electronic/hydraulic schematics
• Knowledge and experience working with AC voltages up to 230 VAC
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair
• Hydraulic troubleshooting and repair
• Ability to install and perform software updates
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to work with the engineering group to improve performance of the equipment

Position Profile

Skills

• Ability to harvest trees using a single grip harvesting equipment
• Comfortable working on water
• Conform with working off screen displays

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs
• Marine experience in an asset
• Boat operator license is an asset
• Current level 1 occupational First Aid with Transport Endorsement is an asset
• Previous camp or overseas work is an asset
