For growth reasons VisionFund Ghana, an International Microfinance Institution in Ghana is looking for competent persons to fill the following key position:- System and Database Administrator

Purpose of the position:

Reporting to the IT Manager, the holder of the role is responsible for administering all the MFI databases and systems, including but not limited to, jBase databases, SQL databases and MFI business applications, the holder will also setup and administer, configure backup solutions. In addition, serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems among other.

Major Responsibilities:

Quality Service delivery / Operational Management:

•   Manages the day-to-day operations of the MFI host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities
•   Performs troubleshooting as required. Work directly with IT personnel and business teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations and supervises operations staff including training and evaluating
•   Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system

Qualification Required & Experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•   Required Bachelors / University degree in the area of Computer Information Systems, Management information Systems, Computer Science or Technical related field
•   With at least 3 years hands on experience in managing large databases, SQL server system administration, in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support. Experience in jBase, SQL running on Linux and Windows platforms will be added advantage
•   Knowledge of and experience in: Programming Languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies in use; Unix and Windows system administration, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools, principles and practics of effective management and supervision
•   Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies / procedures, comunicate technical / complex information both verbally and in writing, establisha nd maintain cooperation understanding, trust and credibility, perform multiple task concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
•   Certification - SQL Server Administration
•   Excellent communication, customer focus and interpersonal relations skills
•   Attention to detail, analytical skills and ability to research and apply problem solving skills
•   Experience with Temenos eMerge / T24 Application (Banking System) will be an added advantage
•   Knowledge of Micro Finance Credit business operations in preferred
•   Must be a committed and active christian
