Job Summary:

CHF International a Non-Governmental Organization is seeking experienced professionals to recruit to fill the position below for a proposal for an upcoming 5-year USAID funded project on local government capacity building, livelihood and nutrition promotion in the northern region of Ghana.

The position with CHF International in the Northern Region, Ghana, will be pending upon an award by USAID.  The position is full time; 12 months per year over the life of the program.

Accountant (0015) – 3 positions; 1 each to based in Tamale, Gushegu and Salaga Offices).

The Accountant will support all accounting processes related to the project and will input expenses into QuickBooks on a daily basis. S/he will ensure that proper financial and programmatic documentation related to expenditures is submitted and filed.

Qualification Required & Experience

This position will report to the Senior Accountant and must have;:

•  At least a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least five years of experience, knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures and QuickBooks;
•  Knowledge of basic leadership practices and USAID funded programs;
•  skilled in performing detailed numerical computations;
•  and skilled in the use of computer hardware and software.

Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities Include:

•  Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the Board
•  Prepare annual accounts for internal and statutory audit
•  Develop systems and procedures for preparation of monthly management accounts.
•  Develop systems and procedures for Budgetary Planning and Control as well as Cost Accounting for pricing of foods and beverages, rooms and other services at the facility

•  Supervise the accounting staff to contribute to the profitability of the facility.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  A University Degree in ACcounting or Part Qualified Accountant with Part II of (CA(Gh), ACCA or CIMA) as well as three (3) years post qualification experience in a relevant field, preferably in the hotel industry.
•  Part III of (CA(Gh), ACCA or CIMA or any higher qualification will be an advantage
•  Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
•  Must have experience in marketing services

Technical Competencies

•  Ability to set-up a computerized accounting system
•  In-depth knowledge of financial statement analysis and interpretation.
•  In-depth knowledge of management accounting and cost accounting principles.
•  Knowledge of Quick Books Acccounting Software and other hotel management softwares
•  Knowledge pf budget process and systems
•  Ability to plan, co-ordinate and monitor financial activities
•  Ability to prepare Bank reconciliation statements

•  Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills
•  Must possess good written and verbal communication skills

Job Title: Accountant and Stock Controller
Location: Accra
Reports to: Senior Finance Officer

Relief International’s (RI) Social Enterprise Program takes a dynamic, multi-faceted approach to enhancing livelihoods and supporting entrepreneurs.  The Ghana Social Enterprise Program works to facilitate the growth of local retailers and its partners through the production, promotion and sale of low cost, high impact technologies.  Currently the program supports the sale of household water filters and the production and sale of the Gyapa fuel efficient stove.

However the program is looking to expand and deepen our reach with additional exciting business ventures.  The Accountant and Stock Controller will be responsible for preparing checks, purchase requests, managing petty cash for the program as well as overseeing purchase, sale, and delivery of multiple product lines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountant

•  Support in the preparation to send out receipts, bills, invoices, and statements as required, and any other financial documentation for supporting grant or other income.
•  Prepares purchase order, payment vouchers and co-ordinate bidding selection process and issuing certificates, as required by RI accounting procedures in dealing with program expenditure and Sr. Finance Officer.
•  Ensure all backup documentation for procurements is properly organized and filed for complete transparency and audit purposes.
•  Perform general administrative duties such as monitoring time sheets, vehicle usage, petty cash, retirement of working advances, etc

Stock Controller

•  Oversee and manage records of all stock receipts
•  Keep accurate database tracing stock to final sale
•  Manage multiple inventory locations
•  Oversee entry of product sale database
•  Any other responsibilities as assigned by Senior Finance Officer

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Accounting or finance-related degree and 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
•  Expertise in using QuickBooks Accounting Software
•  Substantial demonstrable understanding and experience of accounting practices within an international NGO.
•  Substantial demonstrable understanding and experience of accounting with a for-profit business.
•  Previous experience with inventory management
•  Capable of multitasking across several different initiatives
•  Experience in micro-finance a plus
