A leading investment firm in Ghana requires the services of two (2) suitable persons with an excellent track record for the position of: Business Development Officer

Scope of Responsibilities

You will be carrying out identification and development of new business opportunities in the market; pursuing and engaging potential customers, exploring business opportunities; conducting research on competitors; assisting in developing the company strategy and other projects identified by Management.

Key Responsibilities

•   The key responsibilities associated with this position will include:
•   Analyzing and identifying potential growth and business opportunities available in Ghana.
•   Maximizing business opportunities through monitoring of trends in the market.
•   Participating in business plan formulation and implementation, including development of marketing & commercial strategies.
•   Tracking, monitoring and evaluating business performance, services and products so as to develop appropriate strategies that would ensure growth in revenues, market share and profitability.
•   Sharing of business intelligence gathered across the firm and related investment subsidiaries.
•   Preparing of all process documentation in relation to identified investment opportunities including business case documents and investment submissions as required by management.
•   Screening of potential businesses by analyzing market strategies, evaluating options and recommending equity investments.•   Building and maintaining a performance driven culture, based on the firm’s core values
•   Tracking and reporting on performance against agreed performance measurement indicators.
•   Building relationships with key stakeholders in the private and government sectors geared towards sourcing for business opportunities for the firm’s subsidiaries.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master’s Degree holder in Marketing, International Business or Economics
•   Diversified and assertive business development management experience with at least 5 years experience
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint mandatory)
•   Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges facing the industry at present and illustrate a knowledge of the operational attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry
•   A good grasp of how business processes evolve
•   Entrepreneurial attitude
•   Plenty of initiative
•   Knowledgeable and familiar with Financials and budgetary processes
•   Must possess excellent financial analytical skills.

Rural Enterprises Programme (REP)

The Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) is part of the Government of Ghana’s (GOG) effort to reduce poverty and improve living conditions in rural areas by improving infrastructure, technologies and skills needed for private sector development. The REP has been designed to upscale nationwide, the successful achievements of Rural Enterprises Project Phases I and II (REP-I & REP-II). REP has 4 main components namely (1) Creation of Business Development Services; (2) Development of Agricultural Commodity Processing Infrastructure (3) Creation of Enabling Business Environment and (5) Programme Co-ordination and Management. REP is to be implemented in at least 161 districts nationwide.

He/She will report directly to the Business Development Manager of the Programme and will assist in the planning, implementation and follow-up of the business development activities of the Business Advisory Centres and RTFs in the districts.

This position will generally have responsibility in:

•  Supporting the Business Development Manager in Monitoring the technical quality and delivery schedules of business development services delivered at the field level by Service Providers of the Programme and report appropriately;
•  Support in the provision of marketing support to the clients of the Programme;
•  Follow up and provide technical direction to operations of District based Business Advisory Centres

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualification and Experienced Staff are urgently required to fill vacant position stated above at the PCMU in Kumasi. All PCMU appointments are Contract-based and reviewed yearly or as otherwise stated. Continuity of Contract will be based on acceptable annual performance rating and also the need for the specific expertise at the PCMU at any time.

Generally, applicants should meet the following basic criteria:

•  Must be good team players, committed, dedicated to and work to achieve results
•  Travel extensively in the country
•  Work extra hours and days to achieve targets
•  Ready to take up additional responsibilities as may occur and directed
•  Functional computer proficiency in MS-Office and the Internet is a basic requirement
•  Previous experience with Donor Funded Systems will be an advantage
•  Details of specific responsibilities of position will be included in a contract on appointment

Qualification and Experience:

A minimum of First Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Sociology, Business Administration or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification working experience
