Job Purpose

To provide, manage and direct a cost effective engineering maintenance (plant) services to all operational sites wrt AEL plants to meet the business needs, safety and all other Company and Departmental requirements to ensure continuous operations/production.

The principal accountabilities of the successful applicant will include:

•   To manage in collaboration with SHEQ department the engineering maintenance team to ensure that SHEQ requirements are met.
•   To ensure that engineering systems, registers and personnel records are maintained and controlled for effective operations and best practice
•   To set and agree on engineering and maintenance standards at the engineering workshop with head of Ops and Engineering  to ensure consistency and best practice and safe operations
•   To ensure the effective control and maintenance of functional budget and managed within sanctioned amount and to ensure inventory is within acceptable levels
•   Ensure that all engineering activities performed to required standards to ensure that all engineering standards, policies and regulations are complied with
•   Assist with technical input to solve process and engineering problems to ensure timeous resolutions and documentation for organizational knowledge management
•   Plant maintenance and development improvements implemented and corrective action taken in problem areas to improve machine efficiencies
•   Establish good and effective relationship with customers and suppliers to ensure thorough understanding of company needs and performance requirements are met always in a safe manner
•   To manage, lead and develop direct reports to ensure career growth and development in collaboration with HC.
•   To perform any other duties within his/her competencies as the exigencies of the job require to ensure efficient and continuous business operations

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Tertiary qualification in appropriate Engineering field or its equivalent with at least
•   5 years’ working experience in engineering management level
•   Professional/statutory qualification as an Engineer, or holder of certificate of competency as Engineering Superintendent /Manager
•   Must have committed attitude towards onsite Health and Safety standards.
•   Must have sound knowledge in project management.
•   Good coaching, organizational and leadership skills
•   Knowledge and understanding of minerals and mining Acts and Regulation.
•   Must have knowledge and understanding of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, electrical and electronic systems.
•   Must be computer literate, proficient in MS office suite, Excellent communication skills.
•   Good reporting and presentation skills, Good inter-personal skills

The employer, an equal opportunity practicing organisation, is a company running a quarry in the Western corridor of Ghana currently having two crushing plants with a daily output averaging 400 metric tonnes. One of the plants with the latest state-of-the-art technology has significantly helped to boost production.

To achieve its corporate strategy of being a low cost producer and an efficient supplier of quality rock aggregates to its valued and diverse customer base, it is initiating the process of recruiting a highly motivated and suitably qualified engineer to man this vacant position. Based in the Western Region and reporting directly to the Managing Director, we are looking to appoint a Quarry Manager, whose primary focus will be on production, engineering and maintenance that supports quarry operation to meet set targets.

Job Summary

•   You will lead shift based teams to achieve budgeted key deliverables (KPIs) through production process improvements and optimization, development of an effective and efficient engineering solutions of the highest standards for extracting and processing rock aggregates safety and in accordance with current health and safety regulations, maintenance planning and execution, disposal of waste products from the extraction process as well as the restoration of the quarry once after the end of the extraction process.
•   You will use define investments and CAPEX budget and follow up with the related project.
•   You will use your skills to train and develop your staff so as to meet set targets and standards which will ensure zero harm at all times
•   You must be a change leader with proven ability to build, develop and lead a high performing team.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   You must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification and must have experience in managing a quarry r mining site
•   You must have at least 8 – 10 years job experience with at least 3 years in senior management position in quarry or mining operation
•   You must have strong business and management skills in addition to technical skills
