The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct of various examinations in the English speaking West African Countries, invites applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians to fill vacant positions in its Ghana National offices.

As an Administrative Officer, the successful applicant will report to  the Head of Administration. He/She must possess skills in planning and  monitoring and be able to apply them to meet the strategic goals of the  organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties among others:

•   Assisting in the implementation of the Council’s plans, programmes and objectives;
•   Assisting in controlling and managing the activities of staff to ensure efficiency;
•   Asststtng in writing reports and taking minutes at various committee meetings;
•   Assisting in arrangements for the administration of examinations.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A good University degree in Administration or Social Sciences.
•   The applicant must be computer literate and should not be more than thirty-five (35) years at the time of applying

Experience:

•   The applicant must have at least four (4) years post-graduation experience.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Administrative Officer in the Ghana Commercial Agric Project of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in the SADA Zonal office.

The Administrative Officer shall ensure an effective and efficient administrative system and provide secretarial/office services to staff and other stakeholders operating at the Zonal Project Implementation Unit (ZPIU).

Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to:

•   Handle confident matters, draft routine correspondence and follow-up on programme matters effectively.
•   Maintain an efficient filing and administrative systems
•   Organize meetings/workshops and co-ordinate travel arrangements of Project Officers and Consultants
•   Coordinate and supervise all administrative procedures including the organization of all programme offices
•   Must be prepared to work under pressure with minimal or no supervision
•   Must be prepared to work for long hour and on weekends as and when necessary
•   Organize support for PIU Specialists during programmes activities in the SADA Zone.
•   Ensure regular maintenance and servicing or all office equipment and vehicles.
•   Carry out other duties that may be assigned by the Zonal Project Coordinator

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of a First Degree in Administration or its equivalent qualification to Management/secretarial studies
•   At least 3 years work experience
•   Must have computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, internet and Emails and other related computer programming skills
•   Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in operations
•   Must have good communication skills, and be proficient in the English language both written and oral.
•   Be familiar with modem office equipment, be self-motivated and energetic
•   Must be well organized with good interpretational skills
•   Be willing and able to work in a team, take initiatives, solve problems and contribute to programme success.
•   Work experience in donor funded projects is an advantage
