The Position

The Mission: Your mission will overview the following items:

Business Management

•   Set up market analysis, competitors survey and opportunities to develop

•   Customer relationships: quotes, rental agreements, need identification and so on.
•   Develop business and find new customers
•   Update and operate the website and other distribution channels
•   Ensure the respect of car rental procedures

Fleet Management

•   Daily fleet control
•   Preventive and effective maintenance of vehicles
•   Handle damages and accident reports
•   Optimize fleet management upon reservations and ensure its turnover
•   Manage the teams operating in the vehicle park

Administrative Management

•   Ensure a reporting to the executive manager
•   Make propositions for the activity’s development and enhancement
•   Ensure the good application of all procedures

Qualification Required & Experience

•   From a 3 to 5 years degree with commercial specialization, you have a significant experience, imperatively in car rental business.
•   You speak English fluently and can handle computers and software tools
•   You have accounting notions, good automotive knowledge, an experience in car operations and an advanced expertise in general terms and conditions and procedures
•   With an excellent sense of relationship-building, you are able listen and advise, always available and can easily adapt yourself to all situations.
•   You are also procedural, rigorous, organised, reactive and result-oriented.
•   Your constant mood and ability to manage stressful situation are the keys necessary to your success in this mission, Being aware of the domestic uses would be significant.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

•   The incumbent drives Americans and other visitors to various parts of the city and environs, as directed by the dispatcher. This requires knowledge of the roads in and out of Accra, as well as the rules and regulations of the traffic authorities. S/he must have the ability to perform first echelon maintenance on vehicles, including changing of tires, checking and adding water and oil, and other maintenance requirements.
•   Incumbent also delivers letters, parcels and other goods promptly as required. S/he keeps records of mileage and promptly reports any problems with the car, or any other problems encountered while driving; keeps vigilant watch for all road hazards, paying particular attention to potential acts of terrorism; and any untoward approach to the vehicles. Keeps vehicle clean; and reports any deficiency to the dispatcher.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Completion of primary school is required.
•   Three to five years of prior experience driving for an international organization and/or large trucking firm.
•   Level III (good working knowledge) English. Job holder will be able to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public in the language. Language proficiency will be tested.
•   Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns, and that of neighboring countries and must have the ability to read a road map.

•   Must be skillful in executing various tactics for security of passengers in a terrorism situation.

Overview Of The Functions Of The Post

Under the authority of the Head of Accra Office & UNESCO Representative in Ghana and the direct supervision of the Finance and Administrative Officer the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services in support of UNESCO Accra Office, ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. Specific tasks for the post will be as follows:

•   Drives the UNESCO staff, officials, visitors and authorised personnel using official/ project vehicles. Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services. Meets official personnel and visitors at the airport and, when required, facilitates basic visa and customs formalities. When necessary, translates in local language for the Head/Director of the Office and/or official personnel using the vehicle. Drives vehicle on field trips, as required.
•   Ensures cost-savings through proper day-to-day use of the assigned vehicle and accurate day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through daily vehicle logs, timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels and car washing so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times. Provides inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports, etc. Arranges for the vehicle to be inspected and repaired at the officially designated workshop; checks the vehicle prior to and after the workshop visit
•   Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle; keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities. Ensures timely, accurate and correct reporting of accidents. Assist in installations and use of HF, VHF radio and satellite phone in the vehicle.
•   Delivers and collects mail and documents and other items as required. When not driving, may perform other duties, such as photocopying, binding, assisting with filing, paying some office bills, etc.
•   Undertakes the duties of other drivers when they are on leave.
•   Additional activities that may be required to ensure the success of the work team.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Secondary School Education
•   3 to 5 year’s experience as a driver at a reputed company/ organisation.

Skills/Competencies:

•   The incumbent needs to be punctual in all occasions.
•   The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
