Job Summary

•   Assist in the development and implementation of employees engagement system and strategies to promote effective communication between management and employees:
•   Conduct surveys and research on workers remuneration, labor negotiations, HR policies and procedures, employee retention schemes and make recommendations for implementation as necessary..
•   Educate workers regularly on company policies and procedures and workers Collective Agreements;
•   Coordinate employee disciplinary process and grievances handling:
•   Ensure employee disciplinary issues are fairly and consistently implemented and m accordance with workers condition of service a cross all department;
•   Recommend for implementation, sustainable employee welfare schemes and work -life balance interventions;
•   Liaise with unions, labor departments and Ghana Labor Commission on employee- related matter;
•   Liaise with the labour department on Workman compensation and other claims;
•   Assist with other general HR assignments;
•   Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by the Unit Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Good temperament and ability to handle conflict, confrontation and disagreement;
•   Ability to establish and maintain an efficient disciplinary investigative mechanism that is fair and
•   transparent;
•   Good report and minutes writing skills;
•   Good computer skills in Word, Excel, Power Point;
•   Well developed oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with people of diverse
•   cultures and levels;
•   A valid and current light duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving light vehicles.

Job Summary

•   Provide technical inputs in the formulation and regular review of training and development policies and procedures;

Asanko Gold Inc. is seeking to employ an experienced person to fill the role of Engineering Manager.

JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic as well as operational engineering policies, standards and procedures to ensure optimal plant (Processing and Heavy Mining Plant and Equipment) availability, cost control, minimize operational risks and ensure availability of critical parts and inventory analysis in line with the strategic direction of the business.

This is a permanent position with a competitive work roster resident in a single status camp environment. The Camp facilities include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, Wi-Fi access, laundry service, wet mess, sporting facilities (swimming pool, gym, volleyball/basketball, Tennis, pool tables, table soccer, soccer grounds). Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance based incentive payments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to put his/her stamp on what is effectively a Greenfield operation. Having worked in a comparable environment, the successful candidate will be expected to bring a wealth of experience in effectively managing the engineering function

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

•   Ensure the implementation of appropriate engineering standards and strategies:
•   Provide leadership, technical expertise and direction to the engineering team;
•   Ensure that engineering quality and safety standards are met;
•   Actively participate in the selection of contractors and vendors;
•   Ensure operational cost control and risk mitigation initiatives are managed within approved and set targets;
•   In support of projects, provide diligent progress reporting, analysis and recommendation to the head of engineering;
•   Liaise with Government agencies such as Inspector of Machinery, ECG, VRA GRIDCO for the achievement of business objectives;
•   Ensure that various engineering disciplines provided by contractors interact seamlessly and safely
•   Ensure agreed financial and scheduled targets are met and that engineering work takes place in cognizance of budget constraints.
•   Maintain high focus on employee development, succession planning and mentoring of the engineering team; and
•   Maintain a safe and friendly working environment in ensuring that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Tertiary qualification in Mechanical and or Electrical engineering from a recognized institution;
•   Engineering Manager’s Certificate of Competency, and registered as a certified Engineer by the body of engineers;
•   Possess working knowledge of Auto CAD, Project scheduler, and Microsoft office suites;
•   10-15 years of work experience as a senior Manager/ Engineering Manager, 5 of which should have been in project and contract management, and practical experience in the management of the engineering function in the gold mining industry;
•   Demonstrable experience of good engineering practices and the implementation of
•   proactive maintenance strategies;
•   Ability to handle broad engineering challenges;
•   Have tenacity and unquestionable integrity;
•   Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
•   Possess a valid Ghanaian driver’s license;
•   Demonstrable understanding of relevant applicable legislations and Mining Regulations;
