Job Description

The Coordinator of International Programmes shall manage the development and administration of International Programmes.

Reporting Relationship:
The Coordinator of International Programmes shall report directly to the Deputy Rector.

Duties:

•   Coordinate  the  affairs  of  the  international  programmes  office  including programme planning, development, and oversight of budgets
•   Supervise international programmes staff
•   Identify and prepare grant-funded proposals for international initiatives, including programmes for international clients and curriculum development activities
•   Coordinate and facilitate  coordination  agreement  with  foreign colleges and universities
•   Facilitate faculty and students ‘study abroad’ programmes
•   Evaluate current international education programme curriculum, and facilitate the development and integration of courses into general curriculum
•   Establish and maintain professional networks with related local, national and international organisations and agencies
•   Facilitate internal and external marketing of programmes
•   Collaborate   with   representatives   from   foreign   colleges,  universities and organisations for special projects or programmes as required
•   Perform any other incidental and related duties as directed by Management

Terms of Appointment:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of three (3) academic years in the first instance and may be reappointed for further terms of three (3) academic years each, subject to satisfactory performance.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of master’s degree.
•   Prior experience in a higher educational setting
•   Effectively  ustng  interpersonal  and  communication  skills, including  tact and diplomacy and working with individuals from different cultures
•   Experience in coordinating or directing international programmes
•   Experience with living and working internationally and/or knowledge in higher educational systems

Competencies:  

•   Must be able to relate well with diverse students, faculty and staff especially in a team setting
•   Must  have a  thorough  understanding  of GIMPA  policies  and  procedures  on research and international activities; and be familiar with GIMPA’s international connections
•   Must be able to provide assistance wth the development of project proposals and budgets, particularly with major sponsoring agencies such as the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF)
•   Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
•   Must have strong computer application skills, including experience with financial systems of tertiary  institutions,  database  management  in  Windows,   Microsoft Word, Excel and experience in accessing search engines on the World Wide Web
•   Must possess organizational skills in order to work in a complex and changing work under pressure as part of a team in response to multiple demands and deadlines throughout the year.

Job Description

The Coordinator of Training Programmes shall be responsible for the implementation of the objectives and activities of the training division of the School of Public Service and Governance (SPSG) and to facilitate the achievement of corporate objectives within the framework of GIMPA’s statutes and policies.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate shall:

•   Coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of the division.
•   Prepare proposals for training programmes to various institutions and organisations (e.g. government and non-governmental agencies, private sectors etc.) and ensure participation
•   Liaise with various organisations and Institutions to ascertain the need for training and design tailor-made programmes
•   Recruit programme participants, using most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings
•   Monitor programme expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent
•   Prepare quarterly and annual reports of the division
•   Evaluate programme effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implementation; analyse results and recommend and/or take appropriate action
•   Prepare periodic reports of programme activities, progress, status or other special reports for the attention of management
•   Develop and schedule programme work plan in accordance with the strategic direction of the division
•   Develop and recommend new or revised programme goals and objectives Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff and agencies in facilitating programme objectives
•   Ensure that all standards of accreditation are met by the division
•   Plan, organise and implement field trips for participants
•   Supervise programme advisors
•   Perform other related duties as directed by Management.

•   A minimum of a master’s degree in public/business administration or related area

Duties and responsibilities

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Executive Secretary of ADEA (Director), the Senior Programs Officer will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

•   Contribute to the implementation of the strategic objectives and initiatives of the Strategic Medium Term Plan;
•   Contribute to the preparation and  implementation of the annual work program within the approved budget, policies and procedures of the organization;
•   Coordinate the planning and organization of policy dialogue forums and key events involving ADEA’s  development partners and host institution;
•   Coordinate efforts  to mainstream gender-related activities in ADEA programs and projects;
•   Provide technical support to Inter-Country Quality Nodes, especially at their formative stage;
•   Contribute to  relevant, policy-centered research agenda and analytical work among the Working Groups in emerging and priority areas of education development;
•   Work closely with the African Development Bank and any other relevant partners in the management of the Education Research in Africa Award;
•   Contribute to Working Groups’ efforts to strengthen the capacity of African Ministries of Education through technical assistance, training and information sharing in the various fields of education;
•   Coordinate efforts of the Working Groups to promote and create new networks, and revive/strengthen existing ones on key emerging and priority issues in education and training;
•   Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in ensuring rigor, quality and timeliness in the production of technical documents and reports;
•   Collaborate with the focal point for knowledge management in the African Development Bank to leverage the Bank’s network and field offices in the dissemination of ADEA’s knowledge products.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A Master’s degree in education, development studies, social sciences or related disciplines and considerable experience in education development and  program management;
•   A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education development in a developing country;
•   Ability to provide policy and technical advice and guidance to the Executive Secretary on education;
•   Excellent analytical skills, including proven ability to formulate analytical research programs;
•   Ability to distil core issues from a maze of complex data and prepare reports that are easy to understand;
•   Demonstrated ability to manage projects and programs in education;
•   Proven ability to work, influence and inspire teams to great performance;
•   Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners;
•   Capacity to make excellent presentations at key forums on ADEA’s role and impact on education development in Africa;
