The National Ambulance Service is recruiting the under-listed category of Personnel to be trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)-

General Eligibility

Eligible applicant must:

• Be a Ghanaian citizen

• Be physically, mentally and medically fit

General Qualification

Physical Qualities

• Height – Male 1.68m (minimum) Female 1.60m (minimum)

Qualification Required & Experience

• Accident Free Police report

Role Purpose

The Fire Tender Driver is required to respond to emergency situations by operating the company’s Fire Tender.

Key Accountabilities

• Safety drive firefighting apparatus to and from fires or other emergencies following laws and regulations, operating pumps, aerial devices, power and other mechanical equipment as required, keep inventory of tools and equipment on apparatus
• Clean and service assigned apparatus, maintaining it in a condition of readiness, report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment to the proper authority
• Perform required apparatus maintenance, cleaning duties, inventory checks and weekly inspections. Additionally, after every emergency response or training drill, inventories must be checked before leaving the emergency scene or training location
• Participate in Department training sessions and company drills
• Perform general firefighting duties as assigned
• As part of in-service training, inspect residential buildings, places of assembly for fire hazards or conditions dangerous to life and property
• Attend to the emergency control room
• Discharging your duty as assigned by Mine Rescue team Captain
• Perform other duties as required

Qualification Required & Experience

• Valid driver’s license F
• Firefighting certificate
• Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
• Physically and medically fit to AGA Standard
• Computer literacy

Experience

• Considerable skill in the driving of fire apparatus or other emergency vehicles
• Thorough knowledge of the mechanical priniples involved in the operation of fire apparatus and associated equipment. Considerable knowledge of fire service hydraulics and the operation of water distribution systems
• Considerable skill in the use and operation of mechanical and automotive fire equipment with the ability to demonstrate its use and operation to others.

Job Description

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), an NGO working in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), in close collaboration with the Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning (JOICFP), an international NGO in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), hereby invites result-oriented and committed persons to apply for the following vacant positions on a new project funded by the TAKEDA Pharmaceuticals and to be implemented jointly by JOICFP, PPAG and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

REPORT TO: SOUTHERN ZONE MANAGER
PROJECT DURATION: Five (5) years

JOB PURPOSE:

• To support the project implementation by driving the Project (Association’s) assigned vehicle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The person will carry out the following duties in close cooperation with Project/Finance staff
• To transport staff, Volunteers and visitors in or out of location of PPAG business

Drive Association’s (TAKEDA) vehicles safely

• Report problems on vehicles for necessary action
• Ensure that the Association’s vehicles are clean and safe for use
• Ensure that vehicles are serviced regularly and handle minor maintenance on vehicles
• Collects posts and deliver mails
• Keep daily status records on vehicles and records ALL vehicles movements in log books
• Ensure that every aspect of the log book is completed on daily basis
• Operates BCC equipment where necessary
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Must possess O’ Level, SSSCE/WASSCE or its equivalent and a Professional Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a similar position.
• A basic mechanical qualification/training (Driver Mechanic) will be an added advantage

THE PERSON MUST:

• Have a basic mechanical qualification (Driver Mechanic) from a recognized institution
• Have good eye sight, physical and mental fitness
• Have ability to read, write and speak good English Language
• Be neat, respectful, patient, reliable and dependable
• Have the ability to work long hours and be willing to travel at short notice

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To ensure secured and timely driving services to IDE Ghana’s staff, equipment and other items are moved to designated areas as required.
• Provide support to Supervisor by coordinating the daily movement of drivers and smooth operation of vehicle to meet the program staff needs.
• Ensures vehicle is kept in good running condition at all times through addressing minor repairs, making arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, water levels and car washing.
• Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs. Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
• Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken, in case of involvement in an accident and report any accident immediate to supervisor.
• Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
• Keep track of timely car insurance renewals, DVLA Road worthiness and other regulatory requirements.
• Be aware of any security situations across the work region and disseminate same to travelling staff and management immediately.
• Timely extract kilometers based on vehicle usage by projects for fuel & service retirement and other official activity.
• Any other task that will be required by supervising officers.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A professional experience of NOT less than 6 years
• Applicants ages between 25 – 40 years
• Professional experience in related NGO environment
• Familiarity with areas within the 3 Northern Regions
• Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs
• Ability to establish professional relationship with co-workers and upper level staff and other employees.
• Ability to speak any common language within the project target area is an added advantage
• A professional driver with a mechanical experience is an added advantage
