Overall Purpose of the Job:

The Region Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to Region Management, ensuring adherence to HR company policies and procedures within area of responsibility.

This role manages the administration of HR activities for multiple locations within a large, defined geographic area. Principal Accountabilities:

•  Responsibility for the Region HR function(s) based in Accra; Ghana
•  Provide HR support to the Region Director and as required within the Region.
•  Ensure that all Group policies and standards are adhered to and regional procedures are formulated and/or adapted to comply with legislative requirements
•  Supervision and motivation of HR staff within the Region, ensuring efficient administration procedures are adopted.
•  Country/Base visits on an as required basis.
•  To effectively Implement and support any relevant Group systems.
•  Produce manpower plan and co-ordinate recruitment and selection following approved budget.
•  Oversee return of annual appraisals, reviewing standard of returns and following up any potential performance issues.
•  Ensure salary paperwork is received by payroll on a timely basis.
•  Refer all Expat and overseas temporary assignments to International HR Manager for action.
•  Prepare annual salary review recommendations for SWA Region for forwarding to Group HR.
•  Complete Projects as directed on an annual basis depending upon corporate and/or regional strategy.
•  Recommend annual bonus scheme eligibility to Group HR for approval.
•  Management of local national salary and benefits in line with competitive practice, ensuring any changes which result in a cost impact to the business are approved by Group HR.
•  Ensure Contracts and Handbooks are legally tight within countries within the Region.
•  On call duties to handle emergencies and family contact/liaison.
•  Advice to management re the handling of discipline, capability and grievance matters assisting where required, ensuring proper procedures adopted within the local legislative framework.
•  HR Training for Managers where deemed necessary and appropriate.
•  Regional Succession Plans to be forwarded to Group HR Manager .
•  Local salary/benefits survey participation where appropriate.
•  Complete any ad-hoc projects as allocated by the Region Director/Group HR Director.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Qualified to recognised professional standard; may be degree qualified (HR management, business administration/management or similar discipline)
•  At least 8 years practical experience (including 5 years HR management experience) within a Human Resources Department covering areas of recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, training and development.
•  Should have experience of working for international company.
•  Personal qualities – Drive, commitment, flexibility, initiative, integrity and confidential.
