Purpose of the Job:
AGL is seeking to employ a supervisor for its HME Support Services who will ensure that effective management of HME Support equipment and dewatering pumps are under controlled operational cost and safe conditions, for high equipment availability and performance, increased productivity, equipment reliability and operational profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Ensuring the achievement of high equipment availability and reliability within industry standards
•  Ensuring that dewatering pumps, light vehicles and other ancillary equipment are maintained and positioned in line with operational requirements and objectives
•  Coordinating, managing and directing the activities of the maintenance support service team
•  Implementing effective cost management and financial performance monitoring systems
•  Establishing and maintaining high performance and cohesive teamwork

Qualification Required & Experience

Job Summary

PURPOSE
Provide safe, environmentally compliant, cost effective, high quality Preventive Maintenance support for all of Akyem Blast hole Drill equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

•  Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Act as a role model in complying with and supporting these standards and practices.
•  Comply with the Mine Regulation Act and Regulations clauses that apply to the working area,

•  Completion of all tasks identified in the MOS Elements to the specified quality and timeliness as assigned to this role.

•  Front-line oil sampling experience;
•  Front-line condition monitoring experience in a maintenance program context;
•  Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge and skills to a developing workforce;
•  Continuous improvement and quality monitoring experience at the front line crew level.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, Training And Experience:

•  Polytechnic degree in engineering or other technical discipline;
•  Direct experience providing PM services to a blast hole drill and/or hydraulic shovel fleet (e.g. Drilltech, Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand or similar, preferred);;
•  Business Management course work, training and/or experience;
•  Condition Monitoring training and/or significant experience;

The incumbent will utilize available resources to identify and eliminate constraints in the gold CIL treatment value-chain as well as maintain high standards on security and SOX compliance.

Job Summary

PURPOSE:

•  To manage inventories of all materials and supplies necessary to support the operational

Job Summary

Purpose:
To coordinate and manage daily activities of process shift personnel, ensuring safety, efficiency and quality of work.

Essential Duties:

Safety, Health, Environmental, Security

•  Comply with all HSLP, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont’s Integrated Management System, Newmont vision and values.
•  Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.
•  Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities and ensuring that safe work practices are followed.  Conduct periodic safety meetings and inspections.
•  Maintain a high housekeeping standard in all process circuits.
•  Conduct and complete incident / accident investigations and take corrective action to prevent injury and / or re-occurrence.
•  Perform equipment isolations in accordance to established procedures.
•  Ensure that security procedures are followed in order to minimize the opportunities for theft of gold bearing material or company property.

Production

•  Responsible for all process areas i.e. Crushing, Grinding, CIL, Elution, CCD, WSF and TSF.
•  Supervision of a shift team who is responsible for the operation of the process plant and associated facilities.  Instruct shift team personnel on safe work practices and conduct work place inspections on a regular basis:
•  Inspect and examine each operating area a minimum of three times during the course of every scheduled shift.
•  Physically speak to and see each person under his / her control a minimum of two times per scheduled shift.
1) Inspect primary production and auxiliary equipment regularly for maintenance integrity.
2) Inspect each operating area for housekeeping requirements and direct operating personnel to maintain housekeeping standards.
3) Review operating reports / log sheets throughout regular scheduled shifts and take corrective action to maintain operating parameters.
•  Ensure adherence to operating parameters and make decisions on operating conditions/parameters and take necessary corrective action to minimize operating variations.
•  Schedule and deploy personnel, equipment and supplies necessary for the successful operation of the process plant.
•  Prepare shift production and operating reports, complete work requests, prepare purchase/warehouse requisitions and prepare employee time and attendance reports.  Complete reports accurately detailing production variances, restrictions, hazards, corrective actions.
•  Conduct Shift handover meetings.
•  Work with the metallurgical team and laboratory to ensure the optimum metallurgical performance of the process plant.
•  Work with the maintenance team to achieve efficient plant equipment performance and availability.
•  Responsible to assist in controlling costs i.e. reduce waste, improve operational control, etc.
•  Provide input of daily operational issues to the General Foreman of the respective area affected.  Able to communicate clearly and concisely with maintenance personnel, senior staff and management staff.  Notify management of any prolonged production variance.
•  Requesting services from other departments as required.
•  Coordinate maintenance requirements of the process plant outside of business hours to maintain production requirements and targets.
•  Coordinate production shutdowns and start-ups to minimize delays.
•  Assist operators with troubleshooting equipment defects / malfunctions.
•  Actively participate in continuous improvement programs which will assist in enhancing the performance of the Akyem process plant operation.
•  Coordinate and execute smaller projects in the process area by following the change management procedure.
•  Accountable for completion of all tasks identified in the Processing Operations MOS Elements to the specified quality and timeliness as assigned to this role.

Personnel Development

•  Participate in interviews of prospective employees and conduct orientation for newly hired employees.
•  Assist with the training and development of the shift team employees in accordance with Newmont people development programs (including Metalliferious courses through Citi and Guilds). Conduct employee performance appraisal at least quarterly.
•  Administers discipline, and enforces company policies and procedures as required.
•  Assist in the development and review of the process operations SOP’s, management plans and operating procedures, guidelines.
•  Motivate shift team in fostering a solid team atmosphere while maintaining a safe and disciplined work environment.

Direct supervisory responsibilities for Site warehousing activities which includes Supervisors and their direct reports

PURPOSE:

•  Ensure project work is coordinated with engineering department to complete within accepted project time schedules.
•  Coordinate the maintenance of blasting equipment with the Maintenance Department.

•  Interact with operating and non-operating departments to develop short –term operating goals and budgets.
•  Coordinate activities with all departments to ensure continuity of total operations.
•  Inspect mining and drill and blast operations on a constant basis to detect and resolve safety, personnel and production problems.
•  Interact with Government officials to ensure a safe and environmentally compatible operation

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret drill pattern plans and Laser report
• Conduct prestart Inspection of Drill rig
• Drill holes in rock for blasting.
• Select and attach consumables, adding more rods as hole depths increase, and changing drill bits as needed.
• Be a Team Player
• Operate controls to stabilize machines and to position and align drills.
• Operate machines to flush earth cuttings or to blow dust from holes.
• Start, stop, and control drilling speed of machines
• Monitor drilling operations, checking gauges and listening to equipment to assess drilling conditions and to determine the need to adjust drilling or alter equipment.
• Retrieve lost bit or rods from bore holes, using retrieval tools and equipment.

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualification and Experience for Blast hole Drillers:

• SHS or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2yrs Open Pit hard rock drilling experience.
• Be able to use Pantera 1500 or Sandvik DR560.
• Competency training in Rock drilling by Atlas Copco or Sandvik.
• Should not be more than 45yrs of age.
• A valid Driver’s License and First Aid certificate will be an advantage

• Experience in various mining methods-traditional and mechanised;
• Knowledge in underground survey;
• Experience in mine planning (preparation of mine development and stoping layouts);

• Fluent with mine planning software (preferably Surpac)
