Role Summary:

Responsibilities:
The Successful candidate will be responsible for:

•  Maintaining, developing and implementing metallurgical systems, including;
•  PI historian –Process Administrator
•  OCS Mill Expert System – Maintaining and implementing new control strategies as required and Identify program shortcoming and improve on them
•  JKSimMet –Building, developing and running different plant simulations
•  Metallurgical reports utilizing Microsoft Excel – Visual Basic.
•  Preparing and implementing training plans and  programs
•  Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) for the Metallurgical department;
•  Project implementation required by operational or metallurgical departments;
•  Auditing  metallurgical practices to correct and implement permanent solutions;
•  Ensuring compliance with established procedures and quality assurance methods;
•  Preparing detailed reports as necessary.

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualifications and Skills:
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:

•  BSc degree in Extractive Metallurgy with a strong focus on Information Technology;
•  Minimum of Six (6) years of field or equivalent combination  of training and experience in information technology with a focus on metallurgical process
•  Exceptional strong technical skills in Microsoft excel/Visual basic is required
•  Project management skills is desirable
•  Must demonstrate strong supervisory , problem solving and organizational skills;

Purpose:
Provide change management support for medium-to-large scale, multi-function, multi-process and medium-to-high impact change initiatives.

Essential Duties:

•  Plan, schedule, and coordinate phases of change management work; create change assessments, impact studies, stakeholder analyses and communication plans.

•  The Coordinator must keep accurate data of all training contracts, materials, and gather and analyze evaluation documents and attendance for each programme.
•  The position entails scheduling courses and liaising with Departmental Heads to enroll the right participants for the programme. This means managing the training calendar of the company in a timely manner. He must set up training room
•  The job entails monitoring, evaluating and recording training activities and determining the training effectiveness. The coordinator is to liaise with the departmental heads to assess the training needs of staff and organize, develop or obtain new training programmes to stand the test of time.
•  The coordinator must put up a training budget for the year and monitor the training cost to ensure that the company stays within budget.
•  As part of talent management process, the Coordinator will liaise with Departmental Heads to identify high potential employees, key employees and emerging talents and come up with a development programme to develop and retain the core competencies identified.
•  The coordinator should in consultation with Heads of Department outline a succession plan for the three talents mentioned above and draw training programmes that will result in a mutual benefit for both the Company and the successors.
•  The Coordinator must ensure that the company’s policy on training is strictly adhered to and monitor bond terms served by employees who benefit from external academic sponsorships.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Bachelor degree in the humanities, education or any related field
•  A minimum of four  years working experience in a mining organization or a multi-national Company
•  Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
•  Must be conversant with computer software applications such as advance excel, Microsoft  word, power point etc
•  Technical Training coordination experience is an added advantage
•  MPhil degree will be an added advantage

Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Manager Exploration, the responsibility of this role is to oversee all exploration activities over the Chirano property including:

•  Resource conversion drill program;
•  Near Mine exploration along the Chirano trend;
•  And, District exploration on the entire land position.
•  Also ensure that service and/or operating standards are met (internally and/or externally).  To initiate and undertake projects to optimize performance within exploration geology and to ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
Functional Responsibilities

•  Independently handles duties in exploration geology including detailed geological logging, ensuring geosciences best practices, drill planning, developing interpreted geological sections for resource modeling, report writing
•  Acts as an advisor to management and staff on a variety of internal and/or external requests
•  Provides input into budget or operating plans and major capital expenditures in exploration geology
•  Integrates and interprets data related to RC and core drilling data, geologic mapping, geophysical data, as well as geochemical data
•  Proposes new or more efficient work practices to optimize performance and to ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards
•  Contributes to the development of policies and practices related to exploration geology
•  Monitors costs related to exploration geology and implements approved recommendations for maximizing operational efficiencies
•  Assigns tasks and provides guidance on complex or escalated issues to less experienced employees through training and mentoring
•  Participates in task forces related to exploration geology including designing exploration programs and evaluates results, site safety procedures and implementation
•  Provides technical advice on exploration activities in the field as well as the office
•  Provides geological input and consults with other departments at the mine site to ensure programs advanced on time and in a safe environment
•  Provides input to geological and resource modeling
•  Executes short and intermediate-term strategies and plans that support growth of Mine & Near Mine exploration geology; ensures strategies are concretely linked to the Exploration Department’s overall strategy
•  Coordinates the mine geology staff functions at the site related to geotechnical, mineral modelling, dewatering and ore resources / reserve estimate

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Formal professional designation in appropriate area of exploration geology (mandatory)
•  Bachelor degree in Geology or a related geoscience is required, and a graduate degree in a related field (mandatory)
•  Additional specialized education of up to 4 years (mandatory)
•  8-12 years of related work experience, with at least 5 years working on large, international mining projects (mandatory)
•  Has a strong working knowledge of exploration techniques and a thorough understanding of drilling and assaying techniques
•  English fluency (both verbal and written)

Good working knowledge and skill with a PC utilizing office applications and GIS software (MapInfo, Micromine, etc…)

•  Coordinate and account for the performance of all shifts involved in drill & blast and loading & hauling functions.

•  Ensure own staff are effectively trained, developed, and supervised

Qualification Required & Experience

•  A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution

•  Demonstrable understanding of relevant applicable legislations and Mining Regulations
•  Demonstrable understanding of open pit mining operations
•  Computer literacy and experience in the use of mining software programmes
•  Well developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels

Key Responsibilities:-

•  Produces twelve month mining production plan /budget.
•  Produces five-year medium term mining plan to align to Life of Mine (lom) and strategic plans and objectives.
•  Liaises with maintenance department to ensure primary production equipment KPI targets are achieved.
•  Efficient planning of ore stockpiles to ensure uninterrupted ore supply to all the crushers.
•  Ensures pit & dump engineering designs are available and meet all technical and safety requirements for planning purposes.
•  Ensures haul cycles are optimised
•  Ensures efficient use of dumping space to meet operational requirements and road infrastructures are always available for production.
•  Ensures medium term block models have available grade control data for planning purposes.
•  Ensures monthly and quarterly production reconciliations and reports are generated to meet deadlines.
•  Trains and develops subordinate engineers and other allied personnel.

Qualification Required & Experience

Key Requirements:-

•  A tertiary qualification in the field of Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
•  Work experience in open pit gold mining, of which at least 5 years must have been in an open pit planning role, preferably in a high volume selective mining environment utilizing large production equipment.
•  Demonstrated open pit production and equipment scheduling experience.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a working knowledge of mine planning software including Xpac, Xeras, Talpac, Surpac and Whittle.

A vacancy exists at the HR/Admin Department for the position of: SENIOR INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS OFFICER

Job Summary and Key Responsibility:
Reporting to the HR/Administration Superintendent, the Senior Industrial Relations Officer will work in a team of Human Resources and Administration Staff to ensure the achievement and maintenance of the collective rights of GSWL Management and employees.

Specific Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

•  Ensuring compliance with prevailing labour law and collective agreements
•  Building engaged employees
•  Enhancing stakeholder relationships and,
•  Developing Industrial know how to related parties.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Skills
•  Good conflict management, negotiations and mediation

Qualifications and Experience:

•  Minimum of five (5) years experience in industrial, two (2) years of which is in a supervisory capacity with a large unionised environment
•  Must also posses good knowledge in labour laws
