The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 7.9Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,OOOoz gold per annum.

Purpose of Role:

•   Reporting to the General Manager, the primary responsibility of the Operations Manager will be to lead mine operations (technical services, mining, processing and maintenance engineering) to achieve annual and long-term operational plans and profitability in a safe and sustainable manner by ensuring the operations are aligned with the overall PML group strategy.

Key Responsibilities

•   Provide leadership and operational guidance to optimise all mine operations and maximise the long term viability of the operation.
•   Train and mentor all staff .under supervision and implement programmes for retention of employees
•   Develop a succession plan for all positions in the mine operations leveraging and developing local talent
•   Responsible for the achievement of the production and profitability business objectives
•   Manage the complete mining operations of the Edikan Gold Mine (contract mining and milling operations)
•   Assess the feasibility and the potential for commercial benefits of new initiatives
•   Develop Strategic Business Plans, Annual Operating Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts
•   Liaise with and advise managerial and technical staff
•   Monitor and evaluate mining and processing performance
•   Ensure the optimum performance of the operating mine site to achieve current and future targets
•   Set performance standards and continuously innovate to improve efficiency consistent with our annual mine plans
•   Direct and utilise the skills of the site based team of professionals in order to deliver business performance expectations
•   Play a pivotal role in the expansion and development of mine operations
•   Oversee the implementation of processes, policies, systems and practices within the mine operations to maximise operational efficiencies and competitive advantage
•   Assist and work with the Continous Improvement team to establish and embed the continuous improvement program
•   Ensure Cl initiatives are driven through to achieve optimal success and completion to support the achievement of operational excellence
•   Develop LOM planning strategies which integrates material movement, tailings constructions/maintenance and reclamation obligations
•   Apply an integrated approach to plant maintenance and ensure that production and maintenance requirements are matched to provide the best production outcomes in a cost efficient manner.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree in Metallurgical/Mining Engineering;
•   10 or more years of experience in open pit mining operations at leadership level
•   Exposure to underground operations will be considered as an advantage
•   Excellent technical knowledge of mining production
•   Certificate of Competence .from Minerals Commission (Ghana) (Process Plant or Mine Manager)
•   Experience of managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams within the mining industry
•   International mining experience
•   Strong Problem solving and analytical
•   Ability to work independently and autonomously
•   Experience of working to international health and safety standards
•   Ability to manage conflicting work demands and tight deadlines
•   A leader and driver of change

The OHS Manager is a driver of cultural change within the workplace which aims to ensure employees understand theirs and the Company’s responsibilities with respect to occupation health, hygiene and safety.

•   The OHS Manager will ensure that all regulatory requirements with respect to safety on the mine site are met through developing systems and procedures which Departmental Managers are charged with applying as well as directly managing aspects of these.

Key Responsibilities

•   Develop and implement OHS Policies and Procedures in accordance with Minerals and Mining Acts and other related legal frame work.
•   Ensure OHS Policies are displayed, communicated, understood and complied by the entire workforce, sub- contractors and visitors.
•   Establish and enforce a culture of health and safety within the organisation and maintain a safe workplace.
•   Train, develop and coach employees on health and safety and accident prevention matters
•   Consistently evaluate practices, procedures and inspect facilities, equipment, machinery to assess risk and adherence to the Iaw.
•   Work with other Department Managers to capture their specific department OHS hazards, assist in the assessment of risk and identification of risk controls and document the outcomes.
•   Ensure timely submission of Monthly Regulatory Returns to government agencies.
•   Ensure participation of all departments and contractors during emergency response exercises
•   Conduct at least one work area emergency evacuation exercise each month.
•   Encourage and contract personnel to formally report all hazards, incident and near miss events.
•   Analyse incident trends monthly and report any trends in the site monthly report
•   Ensure the OHS department conduct 100% of planned
•   Workplace Inspections each month and ensure findings are formally documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
•   Ensure that random alcohol testing is conducted on an area or section at least once per week.
•   Lead the site implementation of PMGL Occupational Health and Safety management system standards.
•   Assist department managers in incorporating occupational health and safety into their operational activities through the use of the OHS department management tools such as Workplace Inspections and Systems Audits,
•   Lead the application of Perseus Mining risk management processes, including Hazard 10, Job Safety Analyses, Formal Qualitative Risk Assessments,
•   Ensure incident/accident investigations are completed to an acceptable standard through critical review of causes, outcomes and proposed corrective actions.
•   Monitor the performance of the site medical services provider and work with the contractor to deliver excellent medical services to PMGL and its contractors
•   Review and provide expert comment on all OHS statistics maintained by the department.
•   Ensure that the department is fully engaged in the development and delivery of key safety training requirements.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in safety management or relevant field. Masters degree will be an added advantage
•   Must have Health. Safety and Environment Manager’s
•   Certificate of Competency from the Ghana Mineral’s Commission
•   Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
•   Experience of implementing safety systems to international standards
•   Excellent knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment

Job Summary and Key Responsibility

•   Reporting to the Shift Boss, the candidate shall operate Jumbo drilling rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications, safely and efficiently.
•   Also responsible for minimisation of secondary breakage and over break and correct installation of ground support systems in accordance with geotechnical plans.

Specific Duties

The successful candidate shall be responsible for:

•   Mark up faces in accordance with geological statutory and survey specification
•   Drilling of blast holes required for safe and efficient underground development to proceed
•   Install all ground support and drill cable bolt hole, decline etc
•   Work without supervision to complete technical activities for the department and ensure accurate and timely completion of activities
•   Work with maintenance personnel on scheduled service days to ensure all faults and defects are highlighted and where possible rectified
•   Take appropriate actions in the case of an emergency
•   Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, safety, confidentiality and environmental policies
•   Report any environmental incidents as soon as possible and assist as directed in all clean up and containment activities

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Technical education from a recognised institution or its equivalent

•   Prepare, with assistance from the Unit Manager Grade Control, the Business Unit Plan for the Mine  Geology Unit to fit into the overa ll framework of agreed corporate objectives;
•   Provide updated geological models for cross section plotting and interpretation, and revised mineral  resource and mineral reserve estimations
•   Monitor technical and operational developments, including computing applications and standards in all geological activities, both locally, nationally and internationally, to ensure that Asanko Gold is at the forefront of knowledge and is able to take full advantage of appropriate improvements;
•   Conduct performance evaluation and appraisal for staff in the discipline where appropriate;

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
•   Member of Ghana Institute of Geoscientist;
•   A minimum of 8 years experience in similar role in the mining industry preferably in large open pits operations;
•   Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana, and be
able to interpret and apply these laws and regulations;
•   Familiar with modern geological and mineral resource technologies and practices;
•   Excellent computer skills in geological and mining software;
•   Leadership experience and a strong desire to coach and develop others;
