Job Summary

The Finance and Administration Officer must be willing to work in either Accra or Kumasi.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Finance

•   Monitor income, expenditure and undertake monthly bank reconciliation
•   Prepare journals and make entries into the tally accounting software
•   Keep relevant books and records for all financial transactions
•   Ensuring that banking arrangements are adequate to support the operational activities and that all bank transactions conform to agreed procedures and are appropriately documented
•   Provide advice and guidance in financial matters to Project Managers
•   Ensure compliance with Solidaridad finance manual
•   Maintain the assets register of the office and for specific projects as assigned
•   Prepare monthly specific project financial reports as assigned
•   Assist during annual organizational and specific project audit.
•   Assist in the preparation of budget and annual plans

Administration

•   Ensure that agreed administrative procedures and guidelines are adhered to
•   Manage the utilization of resources, ie. Assets; stationery, vehicles
•   Manage the administrative aspects of procurement and financial management
•   Ensure that security systems are adequate and operational at all times
•   Supervision and oversight of the administration support staff
•   Perform any other administrative duties as may be assigned to her/him from time to time by the Programme Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A first degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) or HND in Accounting with ACCA/CIMA part 2
•   At least three years of working experience with an international organization/ NGO in a similar position
•   Very good knowledge in project accounting
•   Computer literacy and competent with the use of excel, accounting software and other officer suits

•   Develop, implement, and maintain adequate internal controls

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting and Finance

Key Responsibilities

•   Report to the CEO on all issues on financial management within the company.

•   To ensure business monthly reporting is timely and accurate at both product and customer segment levels. This includes the consistent application of the Funds Transfer Pricing and Cost Allocation methodologies.
•   Assist business to undertake the financial analysis of the Business monthly performance
•   Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends opportunities to maximise earnings and minimise risk.
•   Review and monitor the business performance against company policies for Market Risk, Liquidity Management, local regulatory and other statutory requirements.
•   Manage the business cost centres and lead capital asset management systems.
•   Assist in the evaluation of projects which are specific to the business in accordance with company and local guidelines and contribute fully to their implementation.
•   Assist business in preparation of PARs.
•   Ensure that project accounting disciplines and tracking mechanisms (including benefits tracking) are in place for all business projects.
•   To prepare the operational risk reports for the company as required
•   Any other duties that may be assigned from time  to time

Qualification Required & Experience

•   An MBA in Business, or Accounting or Professional Qualification – CIMA, CPA, ACCA or its equivalent plus at least 7 years experience in a middle management position with relevant / specific banking experience
•   Be conversant with Tax Laws, IFRS and other Accounting Standards as well as Base II Accord
•   Be knowledgeable in all regulations relating to financial institutions and banking practices and products.
•   Must have superior levels of judgement and decision making to assess the impact of business activities on performance and identify trends early for effective remedial action.
•   Must have the flair to analyse and report on variances and set targets
•   Strong knowledge in Financial and Management Accounting principles
•   Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
•   Have excellent spreadsheet modelling skills.
•   A team builder with good communication and interpersonal skills

•   Designing and establish a system of operational procedures, reporting systems and Internal Control procedures that will ensure the complete recording, analysis, reporting and presentation of all Savings & Deposits activities undertaken by the company.
•   Monitoring the inflow of savings and deposits from clients and in conjunction with Finance Department ensure that the accounting system is continuously updated with any deposits received.
•   Submitting weekly/monthly reports to the CEO on the status of Deposits portfolio.
•   Reviewing Monthly financial reports before submission to CEO.
•   Support in ensuring that service operations and implementation procedures are consistent with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements and general operating or international standards.
•   Perform any other duty that may be assigned to you by your supervisors.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, Micro Finance Management, Credit Management and or member of a Recognized Professional Accounting Body or higher
•   Minimum of six (6) years practical work experience, preferably at management (or middle management) level with a finance institution. Experience with a non-banking finance institution or Finance House will be mostly preferred.
•   Proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet, finance and presentation applications, accounting and credit management software,  etc
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the main or widely spoken local languages.

Other Skills

•   Sound knowledge of the regulatory framework of the Micro Finance Industry.
