Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will report to the Senior Maintenance Superintendent (Operations) and will have the following responsibilities:

•   Increasing skill levels of mechanical trade supervisors and tradesmen
•   Develop short term (daily/weekly) mechanical maintenance plans with supervisors.
•   Assist supervisors to coordinate planning of the mechanical, boiler making and cranes/rigging disciplines for major process plant shutdowns.
•   Review and update current Standard Operating Procedures.
•   Lead process plant troubleshooting efforts with mechanical supervisors and tradesman.
•   Lead, coordinate and supervise critical tasks and breakdown situations.
•   Provide technical input from a mechanical equipment/installation perspective into process plant improvement modifications.
•   Review proposals for site ‘installations where installation of mechanical equipment is to be applied.
•   Develop strong relationship with Supply Chain to ensure information with respect to consumption of mechanical spares is well understood and optimization of site stock holdings is achieved. ‘
•   Lead site initiatives to improve the understanding of mechanical equipment safety.
•   Take responsibility with senior mechanical staff for ensuring that PMGL safety standards with respect to mechanical equipment and installations are maintained.
•   Lead efforts to ensure that effective controls are in place for performance of working at heights and suspended load operations.
•   Review current role analysis and skills audit for assigned staff and identify talent gaps.
•   Work with Learning & Development team to map gaps and design” solutions to facilitate and monitor competency training for mechanical tradesmen positions.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   BSc Mechanical Engineering/Trade qualifications in a Mechanical discipline from an internationally regarded institution.
•   Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance at operating processing facilities

•   High calibre and technically astute person with experience in operations, implementing international best practice maintenance regimes.
•   Knowledge and experience encompassing slinging and rigging, boilermaker/welding fabrication. rubber lining and machining.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   First Degree in land economy or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution;
•   Certificate issued by the Ghana Institute of Surveyors (GIS) will be an added advantage;
•   Minimum of 5 years experience in similar position in Mining or related industry;
•   Good knowledge in Land management and mine land take;
•   Knowledgeable in Minerals and mining Act (Act 2006) and LI 2175;
•   Demonstrate good understanding of community engagement;
